KIDS — on the farm! 

This spring we will have lots and lots of KIDS running around here at Cagle’s Family Farm!  

FARM TRIVIA:  What are baby goats are called?   Kids.  

Yep, that’s right.  These lil’ guys and gals are very playful with each other, running and jumping all over the place.  (That’s whey their name is a perfect fit!)  They’re a sight to see!  

Our kids would love to see your kids on a Spring Field Trips with their school starting March 20, 2013, or with your family and friends on an Ag-Venture Tour!

Spring Field Trips begin March 20th!

Our old-fashioned hayride takes students on a tour of the farm, and makes a great venue for staging the herding demonstrations that Cagle’s Family Farm is so well known for! Watch the herding of different groups of farm animals, and then get to meet our star attractions in person.  This is just one of the learning opportunities during the spring.  School kids will also get to have some fun, hands-on learning when we get to the garden.

Freshly cut Frasier Fir Christmas Trees

While you’re here, warm up around the open campfire, roast s’mores and sip hot chocolate when you visit this Christmas, all while the kids jump on Clay’s Jumping Pilla — at no charge!  Before you head home, pick up home-made canned goods and farm-raised beef in our Market.  We look forward to seeing you!

HOW TO MAKE:

MICROWAVE caramels and water in medium microwaveable bowl on HIGH 30 sec.; stir until caramels are completely melted. Cool 2 min. Stir in sour cream and 1/2 tsp. cinnamon. Refrigerate until ready to use.

WHISK cream cheese, pumpkin, brown sugar, flour, zest and remaining cinnamon until well blended. Spoon about 2 tsp. onto center of each won ton wrapper. Moisten edges with egg white; fold diagonally in half. Pinch edges together tightly to seal.

HEAT oil in large saucepan on medium-high heat to 350ºF. Add won tons, in batches; cook 2 to 3 min. or until evenly browned. Drain. Cool slightly or to room temperature. Sprinkle with powdered sugar. Serve with caramel sauce.

Acorn Dough Nuts

We love having fun in the fall — from crafts to baking tasty treats!  Here’s an kid-friendly recipe we can across.

Ingredients

• Chocolate Frosting or Peanut Butter
• Donuts
• Crumbled Toffee
• Pretzel

Instructions

1. Frost a third or so of a plain or glazed doughnut hole with chocolate frosting or peanut butter.
2. Roll the frosted top in crumbled toffee (look for it in the baking section of grocery stores), then add a small piece of a pretzel for the stem.

Have fun with the kids making this Scarecrow Craft!

TRIVIA:  So, why doesn’t a scarecrow eat?  Because he’s already stuffed!

What you’ll need:

• Brown paper lunch bag
• Newspaper
• Yellow, brown, orange, black, blue, and red construction paper
• 2 googly eyes
• Glue
• Scissors
• Tape
• template 1

How to make your Paper Bag Scarecrow Craft:

• Use the newspaper to stuff your brown paper lunch bag.  Be careful not to stuff it too full!  Tape the top of the bag closed.
• Print out our template above.  Cut out the shapes and trace them on construction paper.  The smile is black, the hat is brown, the hat ribbon and bow are blue, the nose is orange, and the leaf is red.  Cut out all of the pieces.
• Cut a few one inch wide strips of yellow construction paper.
• Glue the bow onto the bag towards the bottom.  Glue the tiny yellow square in the middle of the bow.
• Glue the smile on above the bow.  Then glue on the googly eyes so they are at the same height as the top of the smile.  Then glue the nose in the middle.
• Cut the yellow construction paper strips to various lengths and glue along the top of the bag as hair.
• To make the hat, glue the blue strip to the tall rounded portion of the hat.  Then glue the brim of the hat on so that it leaves a bit of the blue strip exposed, but not all of it exposed.  Glue the red leaf on the side of the hat.  Glue that hat onto your scarecrow.

It’s that time of year!  All the ghosts, spirits and CRAZIES start stirring around.  Dare to make a visit to the Haunted Barn on Cagle’s Family Farm — or you just might meet some!

High School Spirit Night

This will be a fun night here at Cagle’s Family Farm for all Cherokee County high schools. We encourage high school students to wear their school colors or show their school I.D. at the ticketbooth.  Nto only will the students get the ‘school special’ which includes both the Haunted Barn and Corn Maze for just $20/person, but the school with the most in attendance will win!  

Cagle’s Family Farm will present the award to the high school with the most in attendance on this night.  For more information, call 770.345.5591.
